Elizabeth Moss Galleries is proud to announce concurrent exhibitions of the vibrant, dynamic works of two Maine coastal and nautical artists, Laura Waller and Lea Peterson. The events run from Thursday, June 9 to Saturday, July 30, with the opening receptions at 5:00 PM on June 9th. Peterson’s exhibition, “For Work and Play,” explores the lives of boats and other vessels in their natural habitat. This is accomplished with nonchalant, upbeat lyricism which invigorates her audience rhythmically, atmospherically and through the expert use of color and form. Waller’s “Working Port” is an insightful exploration of the structure, purpose and metaphorical significance of maritime systems and processes, as seen from the water’s surface and edge, and defined by the weightiness and power of ships, port facilities and the natural coast line.
