In fall of 2019, Turtle Gallery invited artists to contribute to a season-long exhibit titled “Our Vulnerable Earth,” which will run June through September.

Due to COVID-19, The Turtle Gallery in Deer Isle will remain open online-only until further notice.

“We aim to present artwork driving attention to the vulnerability of nature,” the gallery states. “Things change every day. Last November, we could not have imagined how important this would be.”

Many Turtle Gallery artists have consistently produced work which speaks to this concern. Artists draw thoughts and ideas from nature and the extraordinary world around us. Art at best can be a call to action, and many artists create with that in mind. The hope is that this exhibit amplifies their voices.

While online only, the gallery will continue to represent its artists and will regularly post images.

In lieu of opening receptions, its new, online “Open Process” series gives a behind-the-scenes look at the gallery and artists and thought processes behind the work.

Onsite gallery hours are pending. Check Turtle Gallery online for updates at theturtlegallery.com, or call 207-348-9977 or email [email protected] for more information.
