PETRA CLASS
“Scrumptious, Elegant and Fabulous”
Meet the artist Aug. 17-18
Come find out why Petra Class’ work is so sought after. Three themes are typically found in her work — rhythmical arrangements of elements, repetition of related forms or colors and the unexpected contrasts of differently-textured materials. All fabricated in 18 karat gold. She spends her days in San Francisco and the German countryside, where she is originally from.
JESS HURLEY SCOTT
“Tidal Places”
Meet the artist Aug. 17
Jess Hurley Scott begins her painting process photographically on the coastline, then moves to the studio. She divides the compositions into three layers, which she paints in reverse on Plexiglas. By keeping the layers translucent, a jewel-like effect is produced by filtering light. Her landscapes have actual depth that play optical tricks as one moves around her dioramic paintings. Jess blurs the assumptions of 2D and 3D in her painting.
ANNE NEELY
“Awash”
Meet the artist Aug. 17
Anne Neeley feels a heightened awareness of the inevitability of climate change — a message that she transmits through paint. On canvas, she addresses beauty and foreboding that fills our lives, as we witness the urgency for change. In her watercolors, she follows the beauty, awe and magic she still feels looking out from her perch in Jonesport.
AMANDA HAGERMAN
“Everyday Luxury”
Meet the artist Aug. 17-19
Amanda Hagerman creates jewelry for the woman desiring everyday luxury and versatility. She also values pieces with undisputed quality, handcrafted beauty, with sumptuous materials. She fabricates and casts in old world techniques for our modern lifestyle. This will be her first visit to Northeast Harbor.
