Lisa Dombek will show her collection of abstract landscapes in the exhibition “SHIFT & FLOW” at The Press Hotel Gallery, 119 Exchange St., Portland, through Jan. 12.
Her landscapes are at once a visceral response to where she lives and what she observes, often inspiring an imaginative world arising vicariously from the energies and tidal flow of the sea. Photographs taken on walks often serve as a springboard for paintings, drawings and mixed-media pieces.
As the ice of winter shifts into the flowing waters of spring/summer, these are also an expression of the mercurial nature of the seasons and the life force mysteriously moving and changing the fabric of the landscape she calls home.
