Janice Simari Siegel has joined the Bridgton Art Guild and is the latest artist to exhibit at Gallery 302, 112 Main St., Bridgton. Siegel brings a fresh perspective on landscapes to the artist co-op gallery.
Siegel is a representational artist working in oils who takes inspiration from such artists as Johannes Vermeer, Umberto Bocciono and Paul Cezanne. She says her work favors color vibrancy in scenes from nature focusing on light and shadows.
Siegel holds a BS degree from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters in Education from Boston University. She has studied at Maine College of Art & Design and the University for Southern Maine. Siegel is a Meetinghouse Arts Gallery Committee member in Freeport and owner/creator of The Studio at Two Chimneys Farm in Falmouth. Her work can also be viewed at: Meetinghouse Arts Gallery, Freeport; Boothbay Région Art Foundation, Boothbay; F.O. Bailey Antiques, Falmouth.
The Bridgton Art Guild, a nonprofit 501(3)c, has played an important role in promoting the arts and local artists in Bridgton since 2003. The guild operates Gallery 302, a juried artist cooperative, which is managed by 45 member artists. The gallery provides a venue for artists and students of art to exhibit and sell original works including paintings, pottery, photography, fabric art, wood sculpture, jewelry and millinery. As part of its mission, the gallery also hosts monthly artist receptions and shows, hosts the annual Art In The Park event on the third Saturday in July, and awards annual scholarships to local students pursuing a career in the arts.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. A calendar of classes and events can be found at www.gallery302.com.
