Turtle Gallery will host a book signing celebrating Blue Hill resident, nature enthusiast, sculptor and illustrator Rebekah Raye at 2 p.m. June 29.

The July show, “Works on Paper,” opens on July 5 with artist talks beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Raye’s illustrations are enjoyed by young and old and explore our natural surroundings and the unique and fascinating animal inhabitants. “Works on Paper” includes pieces by Siri Beckman, Ron Crusan, Nicole Herz, William Holst, Elena Kubler, J.E. Paterak, Margaret Rizzio, Robin Roi, Karl Schrag and others.

Join us for these events with light refreshments in our sculpture garden. Guests can meet the artists and browse books and fine art works in the gallery and in the gardens.

“The Secret Pool,” illustrated by Raye and authored By Kim Ridley, introduces young readers to the wonders right underfoot as the voice of a vernal pool shares its secrets through the seasons and as sidebars provide fun facts on its inhabitants and the crucial role these small, often overlooked wetlands play in maintaining a healthy environment. Written and illustrated by Raye, “The Very Best Bed” captures the cozy nesting quest of a gray squirrel and other “creature comforts.” Raye’s first book of illustrations, “Thanks to the Animals,” brings to life a Passamaquoddy story with the help of Allen Sockabasin. All three books are published by Tilbury House.

Turtle Gallery resides in an 1876 two-story barn and outdoor sculpture garden located at 61 N. Deer Isle Road in Deer Isle. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday from May 30 to Oct. 7. For more information, visit turtlegallery.com, or call 207-348-9977.
