“Works on Paper” opens July 5 at Turtle Gallery with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. and talks beginning at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy conversation with stalwart gallery artists as well as some new faces and take in the barn and sculpture gardens with some light refreshments.

The gallery highlights the incredible range of work by local and regional artists including Siri Beckman, Ron Crusan, Nicole Herz, William Holst, Elena Kubler, J.E. Paterak, Margaret Rizzio, Robin Roi, Karl Schrag and others.

Also coming up this month, Turtle Gallery will host a book signing for the recently released “Engraving a Sense of Place,” which follows Siri Beckman on her journey to Maine and her calling to become a printmaker. Featuring more than 100 of her images, it is a celebration of her life’s work and legacy. Meet the artist and grab a copy at 2 p.m. July 13.

As in the past, Turtle Gallery will contribute a portion of its sales to a local nonprofit. This year, that will be Project Launch, which supports local students and their families to make a successful transition from high school to meaningful post-secondary learning and opportunities.

Turtle Gallery resides in an 1876 two-story barn and outdoor sculpture garden located at 61 N. Deer Isle Road in Deer Isle. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday from May 30 to Oct. 7. For more information, visit turtlegallery.com, or call 207-348-9977.
