John Butke, of Sawyer’s Island, Boothbay, paints familiar landscapes with clarity of light and atmosphere: “I focus on developing an interesting contrast of colors within a strong composition and a dynamic quality of brushstrokes that create both movement and unity.”
Candace Vlcek of Jefferson, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America often portrays a more intimate viewpoint, featuring the play of light on the scene “… to capture that moment in time that first caught my full attention and to share it with the viewer … the beautiful small moments that may go unnoticed.”
