Judith Greene-Janse, Joanne Tarlin and Ann Tracy will exhibit their paintings and mixed media artwork in “Alight on the Rocky Shores: This is not an Exhibition of Lighthouses.”
The exhibit opens Oct. 6 with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at the UMVA Gallery, inside the Portland Media Center, 516 Congress St., Portland, and continues on Fridays (4 to 8 p.m.) and Saturdays (1 to 4 p.m.) until Oct. 28.
They will also unveil a collaborative mixed media art work at the opening reception. Each artist was challenged to create the idea of a lighthouse, as that which both illuminates danger and provides a beacon of hope. The collaborative painting will be auctioned off as a silent auction item, with bidders being encouraged to stop by the Portland Media Center all month to check on their bids. Whomever has the highest bid on Oct. 28 will win the painting. A portion of the proceeds will benefit UMVA.
