‘Midsummer I’ at New Era features work by Peter Codella

“Midsummer I” at New Era Gallery on Vinalhaven will feature the work of painter Herbert Parsons and sculptor Peter Codella.

The show will open on July 13 with an artists’ talk at 4:30 p.m. in the Windy Way Barn, followed by a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The show runs through July 28.

Parsons’ oil paintings reflect his decades-long fascination with the dynamic climate of Maine in all seasons, from foggy summer days to low-lit winter afternoons.

Codella’s sculpture combines found objects and cut and welded steel, often featuring island stones.

Summer gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and by appointment on Sundays.
