Maine Craft Weekend is Oct. 2 and 3 this year.
Bucksport, a community located on the shores of the Penobscot River with a quaint and vibrant Main Street joins this year’s Maine Craft Weekend (MCW) as a Featured City.
While in Bucksport, MCW attendees will find several events celebrating local art and craft. On Saturday, Lighthouse Gallery, home to the works of 60 Maine artists, will host a fun and educational fiber arts show. Demonstrations will include spinning, carding, dyeing, felting, and silk scarf painting and a special presentation will be made about natural dyes with live animals on the lawn for the family to enjoy. Inside the gallery, many artists will be on-site selling their wares and jewelry, woodcarving and watercolor demonstrations will be held throughout the day. Two local authors will join these artists ready to discuss their newest published works.
Bucksport’s Garden Club will have their popular plant and pie sale with one of a kind and handmade wreaths, ornaments and more. Visit an open working studio of glass artists and students creating stained glass pieces at Stubborn Cow Glass. Afternoon attendees can sip wine and enjoy tapas at Verona Wine and Design in their European-style outdoor courtyard, a grape stomping event and crafts made from aged wine barrels.
A demonstration in Nantucket Basket Weaving is not to be missed. Hosted by Port O’ Call, basketry will be for sale during and after the weekend.
Enjoy Bucksport’s scenic recreational mile-long path along the shore of the river and afterward stop by Friars’ Brewhouse & Tap Room where they will be launching two new brews accompanied by their own house made pretzels and German food for Octoberfest in Bucksport.
