Meet the artists at Shaw Jewelry

Meet the artists featured at Shaw Jewelry this month with opening receptions.

An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 18 for “LISA DOMBEK: Mount Desert Island’s Mercurial Coast.” The power of landscape is expressed in Dombek’s abstract mixed media artwork. Drawing from the energies of the sea, the stillness of the woods, or the miraculous changing of the seasons, this collection speaks to the dramatic power of the North Atlantic and its symbiotic relationship with Maine’s stoic islands and rocky coast. The show runs Aug. 18 to 31.

An opening reception and meet the artist will also be held for “ALISHAN: Jewelry Where East Meets West.” This is a first time visit to Shaw Jewelry for the self-taught jeweler. His Armenian heritage and culture have been great influence on his designs. Often with an inspiration from floral and leaf forms, the shapes are abstracted and altered to make original motifs. The oxidized black and high karat gold he loves make dramatic contrasts and are strong and seductive.
