Get ready to experience an exciting season of vibrant Ogunquit Art Association exhibitions, programs about art and the creative process, and opportunities to create art at Barn Gallery in Ogunquit through our entire 2023 season, from May 24 through Oct. 9.
The Ogunquit Art Association (OAA) was founded in 1928 by Charles H. Woodbury and other area artists. The OAA’s original mission statement offers the public “the opportunity for aesthetic experience and the acquisition of works of art.” It offers artists life-long memberships and the opportunity “to display that which is, in his or her own judgment, his or her finest work, free from the usual vagaries of popular opinion and fashions of taste. This brings into view a true representation of art from the artists’ point of view.”
For 2023, which represents the 95th year of active existence for the OAA, all visitors to Barn Gallery in Ogunquit will be able to witness the OAA mission in full and glorious action: gallery spaces covered with compelling and evocative OAA artwork; festive opening exhibitions buzzing with the colorful conversation and keen cultural appreciation of artists, collectors, and art lovers of all stripes; engrossing (and well-attended) gallery talks by accomplished OAA artists; inspiring art demos and educational workshops by OAA artists.
Plus, for the first time since before the pandemic, OAA will bring back one of its most cherished events, the biggest annual art auction in Ogunquit and one of the major cultural events on the summer arts calendar in Maine, the 69th OAA Art Auction. Preview will be Aug. 2,3,4,5; auction will be Aug. 5. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the auction begins at 7 p.m.
Barn Gallery is at Shore Road and Bourne Lane in Ogunquit. For more information, call 207-646-8400, email oacbarngallery@gmail.com, or go to www.barngallery.org.
