During September, Jean Kigel presents a collection of Asian brush and watercolor paintings titled “Fall is in the Air” at Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery in Waldoboro.
Kigel is a representational painter and gyotaku printmaker, best known for her Asian brush paintings. She has traveled to Japan and China where she has studied and painted with native masters. Having hiked the karst mountains rising into the mist, she paints mountain-scapes in contrasting xiexi (loose) and gombi (meticulous) styles.
A member of the Sumi-e Society of America, her work has been on the cover of “Leaf Press,” a collection of haiku, published in Canada.
Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery is at 1396 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro. The gallery is open daily with flexible hours. Call first is recommended at 207-832-5152. For more information or to view paintings, visit www.jeankigel.com.
