The Center for Maine Contemporary Art is pleased to be collaborating with Side x Side as they launch Project M.A.I.N.E. The intention of the hybrid training series is to provide Maine educators with Side x Side’s framework, which includes teaching tools, classroom resources and arts-based assessment strategies that support teachers to bring this work into their own classrooms.
Interactive virtual sessions take place every first Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. with resource drops on the last Wednesday of the month. Join us summer 2024 for a full day of art making and real-time connects to classroom content and student experiences at Monson Arts, Monson; Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Rockland; University of Maine, Orono; and the University of Southern Maine, Gorham.
Beginning September 2023, we are offering virtual webinars and then in-person workshops in multiple locations throughout the state in the summer of 2024. Contact hours will be available throughout our partner, the University of Southern Maine.
Side x Side was a recipient of Congressionally-Directed Spending through the office of Senator Angus King and the US Department of Education for $242K to fully fund Project M.AI.N.E. This professional development series will incorporate community collaborations with organizations across the state. Participants will be provided with an arts integration framework which includes community connections, teaching tools, classroom resources, and arts-based strategies that support teachers to experiment with this work in their own classrooms.
