SHAW Story
Work by Brad Story.

Brad Story and Norman Keyes are showcasing work at Shaw Jewelry from June 13 to July 2 and held a reception on June 13.

Story’s sculptures in the show “Bird/Plane/Fish Mashup” honor the laws of fluid dynamics. Fish, birds and airplanes are the shape they are because it is efficient and functional. They are also extraordinarily beautiful.

He creates hanging objects that are fanciful, believable and totally imagined, finely made with references audiences can understand.

SHAW Keyes
Work by Norman Keyes.

Norman Keyes’ show “Night and Day” highlights the artist’s love of color, which is almost Fauvist in its explosion. Landscapes familiar to us become glowing, poetic tapestries, especially through the veil of night. People are invited into the scene to remind us that we are part of the scenery, too. This is Keyes’ first show at Shaw.

Shaw will also showcase work by Maine jewelers throughout the summer, featuring Lisa Jane Grant, Naomi Grace Mcneill, Bryan Hansen and Danielle Gerber.

Grant’s work is forged Damascus steel and Mokume Gane with gemstones. Mcneill’s hexagonal geometry is simpatico with the brilliance of honeybees. Hansen’s tool and toy departures of forged metal convey utility but are fanciful and ironic. Gerber incorporates insect, moth and flower motifs, which harmonize beautifully.
