Currently, Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery in Waldoboro is showing watercolors and Asian brush paintings of Maine’s northern lights. As the Aurora Borealis light up the skies, their hues light up Kigel’s palette.
Inspired by her childhood trip to Alaska, she began a series of northern lights paintings a few years ago. These popular paintings have been exhibited in the Art in Embassies program in Amaan Jordan, and have traveled to Riga, Latvia, and to the Union of Maine Visual Artists Night Skies Exhibit in Belfast.
