Meetinghouse Arts unveils a varied winter lineup featuring flamenco, folk, bagpipes and more, alongside festive holiday events including the annual Sparkle exhibition.

The performance committee has crafted programming to brighten winter months. The full schedule and tickets are available now.

Sparkle, the annual holiday show, opens in the gallery with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 11 during Freeport’s Sparkle Stroll. The exhibition showcases gifts and artwork from local creators including paintings, photography, pottery, sculpture, glasswork, fiber arts, fine crafts, cards and giclée prints. Refreshments will be provided.

Capital City Improv: Hallmark Christmas Unscripted!

Saturday, Dec. 5 | 7:30 p.m.

Capital City Improv, Maine’s premier professional improv troupe led by Dennis Price — who trained at Chicago’s Second City and IO Theater — will perform a spontaneous, holiday-themed show inspired entirely by audience suggestions.

Catharine Cary presents Air Cake

Saturday, Dec. 13 | 3 p.m.

This family-friendly program features Catharine Cary, a multi-disciplinary artist whose debut musical story album Air Cake and Other Summery Occupations blends improvised tales for children with playful jazz accompaniment. The event is suitable for all ages, especially children ages 7-12.

Holiday Double Feature

Enjoy Child’s Christmas in Wales paired with Christmas in the Trenches, a performance exploring the season through the perspectives of children and soldiers around the world, with opportunities to sing along.
