Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, as well as Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The group show “Offshore Winter” runs Nov. 7 to Dec. 27, featuring work by Tollef Runquist, Scott Kelley and Anna B. McCoy.

Painting, for Tollef Runquist, is an undertaking of appreciation and inquiry, a means by which to engage the beauty and mystery of visual experience in an ongoing dialogue. “This is a widening puzzle,” he says, “as I partake in this conversation, it continually refreshes itself, revealing unexpected angles and new understanding.”

Scott Kelley, “Badger.”

Scott Kelley creates tour-de-force, fantastical works on paper in watercolor, gouache, and ink that explore, with great detail and fascination, the exquisite wonders of the natural world, in concert with his love of history and storytelling.

Anna B. McCoy paints subjects that are personal, introspective, and suggestive of the passage of time. “We are aware, always, of her unusual flickering brushwork that enlivens every form…,” writes Christopher B. Crosman. “Every mark is just as present as the object it describes, maybe more so.”
