Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth presents “William Irvine: Heading Home,” an exhibition of oil paintings on view through Aug. 10.
The exhibition brings together Irvine’s distinctive scenes of coastal life, with boats crossing open water, figures gathered by the sea, working harbors, horses in fields and domestic moments. Featured works include “Evening Harbor,” “The Rough Sea,” “Field With Two Horses,” “Man With an Oar,” “By the Sea,” “Wash Day,” “Blue Harbor,” “Lovers By the Sea” and the large-scale title painting, “Heading Home.”
