KIGEL
Work by Jean Kigel.

Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery in Waldoboro presents “Briny,” an exhibition inspired by the oyster farms thriving in Midcoast Maine.

Oyster farms float in the clean, briny waters along the Damariscotta River, where workers harvest 2- to 3-year-old oysters for restaurants and seafood markets. Using Asian brush techniques, Kigel captures the harvest on absorbent rice paper.

The exhibition also includes paintings of oysters with pearls, sea urchins, horseshoe crabs and lobsters.

Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery is at 1396 Back Cove Road, Waldoboro, and welcomes visitors daily during business hours. Calling ahead is recommended. Visit jeankigel.com or call 207-832-5152 for more information.
