Maine Craft Weekend

Maine Craft Weekend, an annual statewide celebration of craft, community and creativity, will return Oct. 3 and 4.

The free, self-guided tour invites visitors to discover the people, places and stories behind Maine’s craft communities. Hundreds of participating artists and locations will host open studios, workshops, pop-up markets, exhibitions, fairs, artist talks, special events and activities.

Visitors can use an interactive online map and listings to search by location, region, activity type and medium. Participants can explore studios near home or create a road trip through Maine’s creative communities.

From the coast to the mountains, Maine Craft Weekend offers opportunities to step inside working studios, meet artists and learn about the materials, techniques and traditions behind handmade work. Collectors, travelers and families will find activities throughout the state.

Participating artists work in media including basketry, ceramics, fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, printmaking, paper, wood and stone.

The weekend aims to connect visitors with local artists, foster collaboration and support Maine’s craft community. The Maine Crafts Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustaining and celebrating craft as a cornerstone of the state’s culture and economy, organizes the event.

Maine Craft Weekend is free, although some workshops may charge fees. Visit mainecraftweekend.org to explore participating studios and events, view the interactive map and build an itinerary. For more information, call 207-805-4918 or email simonne@mainecrafts.org.
