Art Agent Maine is the state’s dedicated art agency, founded and run by Aurora Winkler, who has spent more than fifteen years in Maine’s art world as a gallery manager, director, and curator. The agency represents working artists across Maine and New England, handling gallery submissions, outreach, catalogs, promotion, and exhibition curation so that artists can stay productive in the studio. For galleries, Art Agent Maine offers monthly marketing and outreach retainers that cover social media, press releases and media pitches, community partnerships, and ad and postcard campaigns, all managed remotely across the region.
Artists who are not seeking full representation can work with Aurora à la carte through a Professional Portfolio Critique, a written review of their current body of work with direction on where to head next, a gallery ready Portfolio Assembly built on their behalf, and help with applications and submissions to galleries, residencies, and juried calls. Art Agent Maine also evaluates and resells private estate art collections, with a focus on Maine artists, for families and collectors, and advises collectors on purchases. Aurora is a working painter herself, so she understands the studio as well as the gallery.
Working artists can also pick up The Red Thread: A Journal for Working Artists, published by Art Agent Maine, to keep their focus keen and their practice organized, all in one place. Find the link on the website, and follow along on Instagram. Questions are always welcome.
