KIGEL
Jean Kigel, “There Is a Season.”

Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery in Waldoboro is featuring “There Is a Season,” a watercolor depicting a sailboat skimming across Penobscot Bay, as part of its October exhibition.

The work reflects on the passage of time and the idea of closure, a theme that extends throughout art history. Art movements emerge, evolve and eventually give way to new approaches that incorporate elements of the past.

Kigel’s own work has undergone a similar evolution, from traditional watercolors to minimalist brush paintings, gyotaku monoprints, oil paintings, geometric realism and, most recently, social criticism. Each transition retains traces of her earlier artistic explorations.

Her October exhibition brings together an eclectic collection of work representing these different periods and approaches.

Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery is at 1396 Back Cove Road, Waldoboro. The gallery is open year-round with flexible hours. Calling ahead is recommended at 207-975-3262. For more information, visit www.jeankigel.com.
