The Union of Maine Visual Artists has extended the application deadline for “Connections,” a juried exhibition scheduled for December at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick. UMVA members may submit work through midnight Sept. 30.
The exhibition will explore the theoretical, visual, tactile, psychological and interpersonal connections found throughout human life and the natural world. Artists may consider connections to community, plants and animals, God and the sublime, as well as the ways materials, color, texture, composition and structure combine to create meaning.
Artists are invited to interpret the theme freely. Amor Díaz-Campos will serve as juror. Applicants must log in to the UMVA website to access the application form and artwork guidelines.
The organization’s current exhibition, “Dreaming at Dawn,” remains on view in the Bangor Public Library’s three gallery spaces through Sept. 30. Approximately 100 visitors attended the August opening. The exhibition may also be viewed online, where available artwork can be purchased.
The UMVA Midcoast/Downeast Regional Group will meet Sept. 19 at Anodyne Bookshop in Searsport.
