The Cygnet Gallery announces the opening of a split show featuring the works of renowned artists Judy Taylor and Carol Berman. The exhibition will open on Aug. 21 at 322 Main St., Southwest Harbor, with an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Both artists will be present to discuss their work and meet attendees.
Judy Taylor, an accomplished artist known for her figurative and narrative paintings, will showcase a diverse array of pieces including labor-focused work, landscapes and portraiture. Her art often portrays scenes of workers and nature on the island, incorporating local residents as models, providing a unique and intimate view of island life.
Carol Berman, celebrated for her watercolor paintings, brings a different perspective with her vibrant portrayal of natural elements. Berman’s work captures the gathering clouds, the sunlight reflecting off trees and the myriad moods of water. Her fascination with clouds, shadows, light and the contrasts in color drives her to capture these ever-changing elements on watercolor paper.
This exhibition highlights the distinct yet complementary styles of Taylor and Berman.
