KIGEL Entente

Waldoboro’s Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery features “Entente,” a watercolor by Jean Kigel depicting two red-hot lobsters sedately shaking claws.

“Now more than ever we need Entente,” Kigel wrote. “The world is at war, political parties can’t work together, and some neighbors are loath to talk to each other.”

Kigel described the painting as symbolic of cooperation.

“I see the painting as symbolic, sort of a mutual benefit of playing together, shaking hands, whether it’s different cultures, different countries, or different points of view. Maybe even an intersection between industry and environment,” Kigel wrote.

The gallery also features a bouquet of sea urchins, mating horseshoe crabs and a frenzy of fish, all living below the seascapes that Kigel paints.
