KITTERY Steffanie Antonio - Lucid Coastline
Work by Steffanie Antonio.

Kittery Art Association presents “Lucid Coastline” through Aug. 2 at its gallery in Kittery.

The exhibition explores the many ways artists interpret the shifting moods of the coast. From abstraction to realism, each work reveals a personal dialogue with nature’s edge — the lucid space between the tangible and the transcendent.

An opening reception was held July 12.

Also on view are works by spotlight artist Steffanie Antonio, a self-taught abstract landscape painter whose work explores the intersection between memory, emotion and the natural world. Drawing inspiration from shifting skies, open horizons and the changing moods of the sea, Antonio distills landscapes into fluid forms and layered textures, inviting viewers to experience nature beyond representation.

With no formal art training, Antonio developed a personal visual language through experimentation, intuition and a deep connection to place. Each piece emerges through a process of improvisation, where color, movement and atmosphere guide the composition more than any predetermined plan.

Antonio’s work has resonated with collectors and viewers drawn to the meditative and often ethereal quality of the abstracted terrain. Based in York Beach, Antonio continues to push the boundaries of landscape painting, blending the seen and the felt into a singular artistic vision.
