DOWLING Tolle
Tollef Runquist, “Rosehip.”

Dowling Walsh Gallery in Rockland is featuring “IDK,” an exhibition of paintings by Tollef Runquist that explores the intersection of personal reflection, archetypes, fantasy and play.

Runquist’s paintings combine images and symbols drawn from lived experience, emotional landscapes and cultural influences, creating an intuitive dialogue between imagery and meaning.

“My work explores a space where personal reflection meets archetype and play, where fantasy overlaps with the digital and the mythic,” Runquist said.

For Runquist, painting is an evolving process rather than a fixed destination. Each composition develops through experimentation, revision and the interplay of visual ideas.

“A painting, for me, doesn’t finish. It reaches a place that feels true enough to leave alone — or it doesn’t, and I go back in,” he said.

The exhibition includes small acrylic paintings such as “Rosehip,” “Night Dance,” “Banquet Map” and “Ride.”

Also on view at the gallery are “By the Water” by Greta Van Campen, “Space, Form and Material Matters” by Jenny Brillhart and “Would an Angel Apologize for Spilling Champagne?” by Dominique Ostuni.

All four exhibitions will remain on view through Oct. 31.
