The Craignair Gallery will host the solo show “Flights of Fancy” from Aug. 28 to Sept. 24, featuring recent watercolors and oils by Jean Kigel.

In the exhibition, fanciful things take place in realistic settings. For example, fish fly over tilted fish houses, birds morph from clouds, and fields and seas break into faceted designs.

“My aim in this show is to capture, on paper and on canvas, the magic of things I’ve observed,” Kigel says. “I offer ‘flights of fancy’ in my interpretations. Familiar objects emerge in unfamiliar colors and forms reflecting my subjective experience.”

Craignair Gallery is located 5 Third Street in Spruce Head. A reception with gourmet hors d’oeuvres and complimentary drinks will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28. See www.craignair.com/gallery for more information.
