CAMDEN FALLS GALLERY PRESENTS, “OUR TOWN”, FEATURING CAMDEN’S SPLENDOR THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR ARTISTS.

Camden Falls Gallery’s closing show for the 2024 season, Our Town, opens on Thursday, September 19th, during Camden’s Third Thursday Art Walk.

For the past 100+ years, artist have been coming to Maine inspired by its natural beauty, its rough edges, and its light.  Artist colonies have developed from Ogunquit to Skowhegan and off shore on Monhegan Island. “The vast amount of coastline and harbors is enough subject matter and material to keep an artist busy for most of lifetime”, says gallery owner Howard Gallagher. “It’s only fitting that for our closing show, we feature Camden, the “Jewel of the Maine coast”, as seen through the eyes and hearts of our talented roster of artists.

Prominently featured in the show is Thomas Bucci, a watercolorist of renown talent who moved to Camden three years ago from Washington, DC.  He can often be seen painting “plein air” around Camden in various locations.  His work has a subdued, nostalgic quality that perfectly captures Camden’s quaint essence.

Poppy Balser‘s oils and watercolors of classic yacht racing just outside of Camden harbor harkens back to Camden’s long-standing maritime heritage. Jonathan McPhillips atmospheric painting capture the sparkle of Camden Harbor at nighttime, and Jay Brooks’s bold and colorful renditions feature the activity and bustle of Camden’s inner harbor.

The show also features works by Tad Retz, Olena Babak, George Van Hook, Barb Walker and Brad Betts, and others.

Camden Falls Gallery is open daily through October, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
