Pemaquid Art Gallery is a prime art destination in midcoast Maine. In addition to the spectacular coastline and lighthouse, the visitor is treated to the artist’s viewpoint, including two artists who are back for their second year in the Gallery.
Dianne Smith Dolan is a long-time landscape and still life artist. Dolan divides her time between Boston and Maine, and her work has been shown in many locations from New York and Connecticut to Massachusetts and Maine. Her peaceful plein air landscapes, many of them reflecting the coastal waters and islands, contrast with the colorful, precisely rendered still life paintings created in her studio. She works in a variety of media including oil, watercolor, and pastel, and pursues photography and printmaking as well. Although she is a representational painter, she is more interested in conveying her response, a memory, the essence of a place rather than a photographic rendering. In addition to the Pemaquid Gallery, Dianne Smith Dolan is represented by Galatea Fine Art in Boston, and South Shore Art Center, Cohasset, MA. Her work may be seen online at www.diannedolan.com.

Liliana Thelander, is a contemporary realist painter with a current focus on still life and birds who paints primarily in oils, rendering her beautiful animal and still life portraits and landscapes in her Bristol studio. Her subjects are inspired by moments in family life, the local scenery, and even fruits, vegetables and flowers from the area Farmers’ Markets. Her intent is to bring “life and vibrancy to everyday objects and snapshots in time.” View her work online at www.lilianathelander.com and in many other area galleries including Mast Cove in Kennebunkport, Lincolnville Gallery, Landing Gallery in Rockland and Stable on Front Gallery in Bath.
