The show begins with an Opening Reception Sunday, August 28th from 2 to 6 PM and runs through the end of our season on October 9th. Light refreshments will be served.

Michael Weymouth returns to The Turtle Gallery with a new body of work created throughout the summer on Great Spruce Head Island.  Inspired by time spent out of Stonington on a rolling lobster boat in high seas, the artist worked to capture both the movement of the fisherman and his vessel in several large-scale oils.  Other images deliver the viewer to moments in the Penobscot Bay; the islands, beaches, trees and people that create and define our coastline.  In addition to his oil paintings, Weymouth will be showing watercolors in handmade inlaid frames.

Ed Porter’s Marking These Times is a series of intaglio prints incorporating many printmaking techniques, each piece creating an entrancing juxtaposition of forceful dynamic forms and sensitive use of color. As described by the artist: “The images constitute a reflective view of our times transformed into gestural shapes and strokes that serve as my personal response to the issues which are a major player in our encompassing social world and the environment in which we live.”
