Rockland’s Art Walk season for 2017 continues on Friday, 2 June. Many Arts In Rockland members will be open from 5-8pm, including: The Farnsworth Art Museum, Asymmetrick Arts, Black Hole, The Strand Theatre, Craft Gallery, Dowling Walsh Gallery, Yvette Torres Fine Art, Art Space, Landing Gallery, Steel House Projects, Harbor Square Gallery, Jonathan Frost Gallery, CMCA, Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery, The Gautschi Center & Archipelago.

The Strand Theatre will be screening Levitated Mass at 8pm as a co-presentation with the Farnsworth Art Museum.

Craft Gallery will feature wood fired pottery by Jody Johnstone and layered paper collages by Abbie Read. There will be live music in the 12 Elm Street courtyard during the evening.

Dowling Walsh Gallery will have two shows: Alexandra Tyng and Sarah McRae Morton.

Yvette Torres Fine Art will be opening its season with ‘Paperwork’ including the work of six Maine artists: Anne Ayvaliotis, Barbara Brady, Kris Johnson, Frances Kidder, Diane Langley and Carol Sloane.

Art Space will be featuring 4 of their artists: Lori Davis, photographer, Keith Plummer, sculpture and jewelry maker, Teddi-Jann Covell, oil painter, and Judith Herman, watercolorist.

Landing Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Water & Stone: Schoodic & Mount Desert Island”, a solo exhibit of new paintings by Sarah Faragher from May 26 – June 25. Sarah will be present at the Artist’s Opening Reception if you would like to meet and talk with her.

Steel House Projects is pleased to announce its inaugural exhibition, Meet/Greet, featuring work by Steel House members and teaching artists, organized by co-directors Alexis Iammarino and Maeve O’Regan. On view June 2 through June 24, these mixed-media works serve as an introduction to the inner-workings of the creative spaces of Steel House. Concurrently, the downstairs space of Steel House South will feature The Crooked and Wide, an open-call exhibition organized by Nate Davis and Ariel Hall. An assembly of “transgressive art,” the exhibition will include mixed media works, as well as performance, interactive, and technological experiences. Parental discretion is advised as this show includes algorithmically-processed pornography.

Harbor Square Gallery is in its 37 season and now proudly represents Michael Good Jewelry in downtown Rockland and will be featuring new work from Donald Rainville, Stephen Porter and our ongoing show of Serge Hollerbach.

The Jonathan Frost Gallery will have a reception Friday evening, with jazz piano by Steve Lindsay. The show “Sumer Is Icumen In,” featuring monoprints by Rachel Burgess and photographs by Lisa Mossel Vietze, will continue through July 1.

CMCA will have current exhibitions on view, Sam Cady: Parts of the Whole, David Driskell: Renewal and Form, and our new exhibition Jenny Brillhart and Sara Stites: Temporality. They will also have a surprise in the CMCA courtyard!

Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery will be exhibiting artists are: Karen Talbot, Rockland, Ret Talbot, Rockland and Kirk Rogers, Portland. They will also be promoting our Fin, Feathers & Fur: Maine Coastal Wildlife Juried Art Show for August.

The Gautschi Center, Caldbeck Gallery and Craft Gallery are offering a performance by Lincolnville’s “Good Vibrations” in the Elm Street Galleries’ Courtyard.

Archipelago will be open for its first art walk since redesign and renovations, with great food and wine. Art from: Amy Peters Wood, Kathleen Perelka, Andrea Peters, Nina Devenney, Kim Traina, Joe McBrine, Karen Gola, Vanessa Nesvig, Helena Melone, Lelani Havens, and more.
