10_Bailey_Intro To Plein Air

Beginning on Monday, July 10, the Farnsworth Art Museum in downtown Rockland, Maine will be presenting a week-long, plein-air watercolor workshop. Led by artist Annie Bailey, the workshop will take place from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gamble Center for Education, on the corner of Union and Grace Streets in Rockland.

In this week-long workshop, participants are invited to come and introduce themselves to plein-air or painting outdoors. Students will explore secret local places and stretch their expectations of what plein-air watercolor can be. This course will emphasize combining creative mark-making with accurate seeing. All will learn to slow down and experience the environment through new eyes.

Annie Bailey is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. She has developed a wide range of expression though a variety of materials including paint, soft sculpture, and hand-drawn animation. Her work has been featured in National Geographic, The Society of Illustrators, the Farnsworth, Steel House, the Bunnell Street Art Center, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center. See examples of her work at anniebaileyart.com.

The fee for this week-long workshop is $390 and $330 for Farnsworth members. For more information or to register, please visit www.farnsworthmuseum.org
