Summer brights contemporary patchwork skirt by Rachel Sherman of Malaguetta handmade at (KōT) Contemporary Craft

Artist Rachel Sherman of Malaguetta will be at (KōT) Contemporary Craft, 6 State Street in downtown Ellsworth, August  3 +4, 2019 11:00 – 6:00pm. This is the fourth year Sherman will show her work in a trunk show style setting showcasing her clothing. Sherman’s work is based on improvised surface manipulation techniques such as applique, couching, shirring, top-stitching, ruching, embroidery, piecing, and pin-tucking. Her work has been described as “where cyber meets bohemian” Her newest collection of work is based on the fabric remnants that would otherwise be thrown out are pieced together to make tops, skirts, and small accessories. The intention behind the “fragment” line is to keep fabric waste to a MINIMUM as to not contribute to the already increasing rubbish being created by the global fashion industry.
