“Blues for my Grandmother,” by Robin Brooks, is one of the works of art in the Maine Art Gallery show.

The Maine Art Gallery’s second show of the season, the “Juried Members Show,” opens June 4 with a reception beginning at 4 p.m. Singer-songwriter Jud Caswell will provide music until 7 p.m. The wide-ranging exhibit continues through June 25, with viewing hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday each week.

Juror Sam Cady has chosen 53 artists who will exhibit 98 works of art expressing a range that includes beautiful abstraction, a strong sense of materials, and lovely or striking representations of moods and ideas. The final selections include paintings, sculpture, textiles, printmaking and photography with imagery ranging from typical Maine subject matter to more personal explorations of a theme.

“In Berkeley,” by Michael Olszewski.

“Wells Beach,” by Molly Mugler.

In its focused effort to support member artists, a second, non-juried members show will be presented in September. The gallery thanks season sponsors Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty, Les Fossel Restoration Resources and the Maine Arts Commission.

The Maine Art Gallery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the visual, fine and applied arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstration and educational programs for children and adults since 1958.
