“Alpine Huts” by Jean Kigel.

During January, Jean Kigel Studio + Gallery at 1396 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro, presents “Deep Winter,” an exhibit of sumi-e paintings on absorbent Chinese and Japanese papers.

These paintings aim to delight lovers of cold weather.

Born and brought up in Maine, Kigel ventured to Boston and Philadelphia for schooling and to Maryland for work before her Maine roots called her back.

The gallery is open year-round with flexible hours; it is advised to call ahead at 207-832-5152.  For more information and a preview of her work, go to www.jeankigel.com.
