“Three Towers,” 1972-1975, mixed media on paper.

Robert S. Neuman’s work was featured in exhibitions, print and film in 2022.

The cover of the Decor Maine 2022 Issue No. 4 declared that maximalism is back, so what better place to showcase than the Neuman family’s Mount Desert Island summer home, “Pooh Corner”? The article took readers on a tour through the eclectic and colorful home that Neuman’s daughter described as akin to “stepping into one of [Neuman’s] paintings. … His personality lives throughout the entire house.”

The first film about Neuman premiered at the College of the Atlantic. “Pieces of the World: The Art and Life of Robert S. Neuman” gathers in-person interviews with scholars, family and friends, archival and personal photographs, and his artwork to create an intimate portrait of a lifetime of art. It also featured a special exhibition of art, personal photographs and memorabilia.

More showings of “Pieces of the World: The Art and Life of Robert S. Neuman” are in the works. Keep an eye out for announcements about screenings in Boston, New York City and Maine.

In the fall, Childs Gallery hosted an exhibition of Neuman’s prints and works on paper. You can still view the works in the exhibition online at childsgallery.com/exhibition/robert-s-neuman-works-on-paper.
