“Castine Lupins” by Sara MacCulloch.

Annex Art and gallery b.’s “Les Canadiennes” hosts the work of seven Canadian artists and also several of the artists themselves — Nancy Friedland, Drew Klassen, Mara Korkola, Shelley Mansel, Sara MacCulloch, Chrissy Nickerson, Johanna Reynolds.

The first set of artists-in-residence have arrived and you may seem them painting out and about. Most of these artists have exhibited with gallery b., are past fellows of the Annex Arts Residency Program, and are here deepening their relationship with local landscapes and people.

Through July 10, four of the artists will be working in the Annex studio and gallery space before and throughout the exhibition at The Annex Studio Space, 8 Water St., Castine. A reception was held on July 1.

Whenever the “open” flag is up, the artists welcome the public into their space.

Open Studio Day will run from 4 to 7 p.m. July 8, when guests can drop in and meet Shelley Mansel and Chrissy Nickerson at the Annex Studio Space.
