Rusticators were the people who took refuge in rural Maine from the sweltering city summers in Boston, New York and Philadelphia during the late 1800s. often coming by steamship and settling in for summers on the coast. Much of Maine has been influenced by the aesthetic traditions of that era. 

“Rusticators” will open Aug. 11 at gallery b and runs through Sept. 3, featuring landscape, interiors, figures and all things Maine. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 11.
