Turtle Gallery will open May 30 for its 42nd season on Deer Isle. Shows will feature artist educators with a group show in June, works on paper in July, painters of Maine in August and a focus on the textiles and texture of craft and fine art in September.

Regional artists will grace the walls and outdoor sculpture garden, including Vaino Kola, Siri Beckman, Margaret Rizzio, Karl Schrag, Mary Barnes, Sheep Jones, Ron Crusan, Paul Trowbridge, Adele Ursone, Morris Dorenfeld, Lynn Duryea and many others.

Open houses and artists talks will occur on the first Friday of each month.

Siri Beckman will be onsite for a book signing of the new publication “Engraving a Sense of Place,” and another event will celebrate Carl Little’s most recent book “Art of Penobscot Bay,” which features many artists we have represented over the past four decades.

As in the past, the gallery will contribute a portion of its sales to a local nonprofit. This year, that nonprofit will be Project Launch, which supports local students and their families to make a successful transition from high school to meaningful post-secondary learning and opportunities.

Turtle Gallery resides in an 1876 two-story barn and outdoor sculpture garden located at 61 N. Deer Isle Road in Deer Isle. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday from May 30 to Oct. 7. For more information, visit turtlegallery.com, or call 207-348-9977.
