Two of Carol Eisenberg’s large-scale works are on view alongside a fantastic lineup of photographers in MMPA’s current show, “In the Making,” a provocative exhibition that illustrates where the photographic medium is today. The show features camera-less works, multimedia constructions, sculptures, collaborative pieces and an installation. Its themes are familiar: family, conservation, art for art’s sake, and the intuitive exploration of photography. The show is on view through July 27.
Eisenberg’s latest body of work, a series of metallic landscapes, takes inspiration from the urban landscape surrounding her new home in the industrial working waterfront area of Rockland. There is an abundance of water, flora and fauna (it is Maine, after all) happily coexisting with the abraded metal surfaces of civilization in these constructed images.
Her piece “FLOWERS IV 17” is included in the Griffin Museum’s 30th Annual Members Juried Exhibition, on view through July 28.
“It’s especially gratifying to know my image was one of only 61 selected by juror Mazie Harris of the Getty Museum from over 1,300 works submitted,” Eisenberg wrote in her summer newsletter.
