An opening reception will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8.
Charlies Wilder Oakes spent his childhood in the rugged fishing village of Port Clyde. Growing up in such a picturesque town he was surrounded by the natural beauty that Maine which greatly influenced his artistic style and choice of subjects.
“A Mystical Journey Through Time” is a retrospective featuring a carefully curated and diverse range of Oakes’ works, each piece telling a story and transporting viewers on a journey in search of visions and truths hidden within the lives of coastal Mainers. Oakes was always drawn to the beauty and rich history of his hometown. His work reflects his innermost thoughts, emotions and experience in realms both mystical and mundane — and masterfully blending reality with dreams.

Included in the exhibition will be several never-seen-before works for sale, including the Angel who introduced Charlie to the world at age 2 1/2 and communed with him the rest of his life, helping him to overcome addiction and embrace the clarity that made his visions possible. This is a rare opportunity for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
