The not-for-profit Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) unveils its annual juried ARTinME show, which, this year, spotlights large format works and small sculpture from Maine artists. Entries were juried by Bob Keyes, the Editorial Director at Colby College and Chair of the Maine Arts Commission. ARTinME 2024 kicks off with an opening reception at the BRAF Gallery on Oct. 5 and runs through Nov. 9.

The only juried exhibit that BRAF sponsors, juror Bob Keyes noted, “I was enthused — and humbled — by the energy of the art submitted, the adventure in styles and media, and the sheer number of large-scale paintings and three-dimensional work that artists muscled from their studios and hauled to Boothbay Harbor for consideration. It’s fun working big, but it’s not easy.”

Artists from all over Maine submitted more than 100 works for ARTinME 2024 — David Estey, Carolyn Gabbe, Tammy Ricker, Nathan Allard and Claudette Gamache among them. Awards for Best in Show, Second and Third Place and three Honorable Mentions will be announced at the opening reception on Oct. 5.

Established in 1965, The Boothbay Region Art Foundation’s mission is to promote public interest in the arts, encourage visual arts in the local schools, and raise funds to provide a scholarship for graduating students pursuing further education in the visual arts.
