Animal Kingdom in HappyVille

Don Best is a Maine artist whose work asks us to see the world through the eyes of the animals. He carves and paints wood to animate his endearing animals, many of whom are andromorphic. They are captains of boats, partying in trees, and generally having more fun than any of us. We humans might as well be the pets in Don’s world.

Reinvent the Natural Environment

Michael’s jewelry designs demonstrate classic and symmetrical motifs undoubtedly rooted in his fascination for Etruscan, Byzantine and Renaissance periods. Other designs are inspired by nature, notably leaves and vines. He is a trained flautist, and his musical prowess is apparent in his lyrical manipulation of gold and silver.

Landscapes Rendered in Fabric

This is our third year of presenting Trina’s astonishing constructed and sewn landscapes. It’s not just the fabric selection that make these resonate; it is also her observation of subtle colors and textures that she brings to her tapestries that enliven them.
