View works by Carol L. Douglas’ students in the Advanced Painting workshop student show, on view July 11 at 394 Commercial St., Rockport. They share their vibrant, exciting work.

Then from 5 to 7 p.m. July 17 is Disco Fever at 19 Elm Street, Camden. Shine up your sequins and dust off your platform shoes. Douglas and Lone Pine Real Estate will present a night of art, glitter, groove and good vibes.

In addition to the glitz and glamour of the disco era, the event will feature work by Douglas, Camden painter Rachel Houlihan and Rockport painter Stephen Florimbi. The DJ will be Nate Quinn.

“I came of age in the disco era, so I never mind a little bling,” Douglas says. “I’ll be wearing my sequined Betsey Johnson platform sneakers, because too much of a good thing is a great thing. And of course, disco makes a ruckus, which is why it’s the perfect complement to the Camden Art Walk. Let’s see if we can make more noise than those crazy kids down on Bay View Street.”

Douglas also recently released Seven Protocols for Successful Oil Painters. Learn seven essential protocols that every successful oil painter needs to follow. Each course focuses on one protocol, and you can take them in any order that suits you.
