Jerry Rose will present “Painting This Place,” a painting demonstration, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. July 16 at Cynthia Winings Gallery in Blue Hill.
A perceptive and expressive painter of the local landscape, Rose works with palette knife and brush, capturing the mood and texture of this place with great sensitivity. His paintings are grounded in direct experience and convey a deep, personal connection to the land. Come see his process in action. This is open to everyone.
Also on view at the gallery is “Conversations in Layers,” featuring work by artists Anne Hebebrand, Carol Pelletier and Diane Bowie Zaitlin. These artists who explore the rich possibilities of cold wax in their oil paintings.
The gallery also has new artwork on view from Louise Bourne, Avy Claire, Lari Washburn, Robin Reynolds, Cynthia Winings and others, with sculpture in the garden by Marylou Reid, Melita Westerlund, John Wilkinson and LUNAFORM.
The gallery also presents work by Anna Dibble in the Project Space with “terra incognita.” In this show, Dibble presents an imaginative and urgent vision of life on a shifting planet. Grounded in a deep concern for the natural world, her paintings explore the absurdities, losses and wonders of existence through mythical landscapes, hybrid creatures and layered time. Both elegy and inquiry, the work invites us to consider what it means to live — and keep hoping — in a damaged world.
Artwork is on view through July 19.
Cynthia Winings Gallery is at 24 Parker Point Road, Blue Hill. Learn more at www.cynthiawiningsgallery.com, or call 917-204-4001.
