George Marshall Store Gallery in York opened “Block Party!” on March 15, bringing together artists living, working or with ties to York, Kittery, Eliot, South Berwick, Ogunquit and Wells. The open-call exhibition featured a wide variety of mediums, experimental approaches and interpretations of local landmarks.

The show included work by Karen Adrienne, Marena Bach, Todd Bezold, John Boys, Efram Burke, Gordon Carlisle, Virginia Chase, Titus Dawson Polo, Drew DiPasquale, Elissa Dunlap, Margaret Dwyer, Alicia Ethridge, Martha Fenn King, Christine Prunier, Tom Glover, Audrey Gottlieb, Toby Gordon, Linda Gerson, Sarah Haskell, Jennifer Hodges, Ellen Hopkins Fountain, Kate Higley, Dustan Knight, Alexis Kochka, Jim Kelly, Anne Leigh, Christie Norton, Bill Paarlberg, Linda Payne-Sylvester, Brent Refsland, Brooke Richard, Raegan Russell, Maggie Sanftleben, Karen Semo, Nina Shore, Kristin Fuhrmann-Simmons, Lynn Szymanski, Douglas Taylor, Barry Tarr, Kathryn Wagner and Michael Walek.

Also complete and now on view is the York River Mandala. This community project launched in February during the York School District’s student art showcase. Visitors were invited to participate through weaving, crafting clothespin dolls, and writing messages of hope and appreciation for our local community.
