George Marshall Store Gallery in York opened its 2026 season on May 30 with fresh work by an expanded roster of more than 30 regional artists, on view through Oct. 18.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and by appointment.
The first reception of the season, June 13 from 5 to 7 p.m., opens four concurrent solo exhibitions running June 13 to July 19: Alicia Ethridge’s “Luminous Wilds,” Sarah Faragher’s “Return,” Trevor Toney’s “Fool Me Once” and Sarah Steedman’s “Tending.” The four bodies of work explore internal and external landscapes, perception and illusion, caretaking and personal symbolism.
Running July 25 to Aug. 30, with a reception July 25 from 5 to 7 p.m., is “Critters, A Tenth Iteration,” curated by Nancy Davidson. More than 20 artists present an all-new cast of creatures largely inspired by the York River’s tidal habitats and neighboring landscapes. The show is the 10th edition of Davidson’s long-running animal art series.
The season closes with “Time in New England, Revisited,” Sept. 12 to Oct. 18, curated by photographer Gary Samson. Ten photographers locate the timeless in contemporary New England, referencing the pioneering American photographer Paul Strand’s 1950 book of the same name. Black and white images of enduring subjects are presented as a single collection. A reception will be held Sept. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m.
George Marshall Store Gallery is at 140 Lindsay Road, York. Call 207-351-8200, email info@georgemarshallstoregallery.com, or go to georgemarshallstoregallery.com for more information.
